Christina Taylor Photography is co-owned by photographers Taylor Gillis and Christina Hasel. The two met in 2007 while taking graduate art classes at The College of Saint Rose. Though the subject matter in their work was very different, they shared a passion for the art of photography. They often found their conversations gravitating to the same topic – how great it would be to start an in-home portrait business to document special moments in people’s lives through photography.

They both agreed the most beautiful images were made in a casual atmosphere, when people were at ease and just being themselves. They also enjoyed the idea of families not having to bring their children to a mall portrait studio, where everyone has to stand in front of a backdrop trying to “look natural”. “Home is where the heart is, and where we feel most comfortable. We have found when children are in their backyard, or at their favorite park they have a natural glow about them that the camera loves.”

What is unique about Taylor and Christina is that they have two very different styles and backgrounds, but one common artistic vision. This allows them to provide their clients with a variety of images to look through. They believe that forming relationships and being there for their clients is a top priority. They feel strongly that the best photographs are taken when there is a feeling of trust between the subject and the photographer. After each photo shoot they set up a 30 minute consultation. This is designed to help their customers make decisions and to answer any questions they may have while looking through the proofs. “We understand that the proofing process can be very overwhelming, we want to make this process enjoyable. By being with you we can answer questions, explain options or just discuss the different photographs.”
